Wanted: New board members 2017-2018


For the coming season (2017-2018) GVC is looking for new board members.

For 131 years GVC has provided fun, relaxation and excitement to countless people from all over the world. Now is your chance to do something back! Being a board member of GVC is a rewarding experience. Not only do you gain useful experience, you make tons of new friends!

The following vacancies are currently open:
  • Chair (~ 2-4 hours per week, some busy periods (AID/winterbreak/end-of-season))
    • As the chair, you are responsible for the club as a whole and the main contact person for external people. Besides that, several other tasks including:
      • Preparing and chairing Board Meetings
      • Contact person for Thymos, Trainers and the association (KNVB)
      • Organising and chairing general members meetings
      • Potential disciplinary cases
  • Treasurer (~ 0.5 hour per week, some busy periods (AID/winterbreak/end-of-season))
    • As a treasurer, your main responsibility is keeping the club financially healthy. To ensure this,
      • Payments (Association, Trainers, equipment, etc.)
      • Creating a yearly budget and presenting financial matters on General members meetings
      • Working with the “Kascontrole-commissie” to ensure a transparent and healthy financial situation
  • Secretary (~ 0.5 hour per week, some busy periods (AID/winterbreak/end-of-season))
    • As the secretary, your main job is to keep the member-administration up-to-date. This includes:
      • Registering new members/updating info on existing members
      • Arranging eligibility to play (mainly in standard class)
      • Arranging player cards for every association player
      • Making minutes of every Board Meeting & GMM
  • Match secretary(~ 1-2 hours per week, some busy periods (AID/winterbreak/end-of-season))
    • As a match secretary, your task is to make sure everything goes smoothly on the Saturdays/Sundays (with the help from match coordinators and the rest of the board). This includes:
      • Subscribing teams to the association before each season
      • Arrange referees for home games of the recreational teams
      • Making match schedules and distributing these to the right people
      • Responsible for the information flow from the board to all the team leaders
      • Arrange practice matches
Communication with the Dutch football association (KNVB)  and match officials requires basic knowledge of Dutch (chair/match secretary)
The board communicates in English with GVC members and Sport Centre the Bongerd however. This means that even if you don’t speak Dutch, we would still like to encourage you to apply.
Besides these board functions, we are also looking for multiple people to fill several other functions to ensure the club keeps heading upwards. These are:
  • Match coordinator(s) (2-3 people, depending on roster ~4 hours per week)
    • Together with the match secretary and other match coordinators, you are responsible for the home matches on Saturday and Sunday. This includes:
      • Welcoming referees, opposing teams and press
      • Arranging everything is ready to play ( corner flags, match balls, but also making sure the match-form is properly filled in and checked by the ref)
      • Cleaning up the field afterwards.
  • Sponsor-committee (2-3 people, ~1 hour per week)
    • Together, you are responsible for both the contact with our existing sponsors as well as the acquisition of new ones, for all teams as well as the club as a whole
  • Activities-committee (2-3 people, ~ 1 hour per week)
    • Together, you are responsible, in close cooperation with the board, for several established activities, as well as letting your creativity flow and organizing new ones. Several established activities are (a.o.):
      • Oliebollen-cup in December/January
      • Kleurrijk-toernooi in June/ July
      • End-of-the-season BBQ in May/June
      • Etc..
  • Editor(s) (1-2 people, 1-2 hours per week)
    • Together, you are in charge of the GVC newsletter and spreading this on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly) to all the members.
      •  You are responsible for the lay-out, the content and its distribution.
      • Besides this, you are also in charge of the GVC social media accounts
  • AID-committee ( 2-3 people, 1-2 hours per week in the month before the AID)
    • Since the main subscriptions to our club occur shortly after the AID, it is every year important to show the new students of Wageningen what an awesome club we are. In order to do this the fullest extent, we are looking for 2-3 people who would like to organise this. Main activities include:
      • Responsible for the booth at the sports market as well as during other activities organized by GVC during the AID
      • Arranging flyers/posters/people to be present during the AID
