The season was good – and may get even better…

By all means, GVC had a good season. All teams finished in the left hand part of the table (‘het linkerrijtje’). Even more so, both GVC2 Saturday and GVC2 Sunday made a great progression in the level of football. In fact, in many games, the teams were dominant: there was high proportion of ball possession, and the play mostly occurred on the opponents’ half. Assignment for next year: Translate ball possession and playing on the opponents’ half into goals. And be less vulnerable in the counter attack. Some nice challenges to work on in the coming season! The time of playing subtop is over. Now the teams should aim for a top 3 position…

For GVC1, there may be a whole different challenge. By having a comfortable victory in the derby against Wageningen, GVC1 ended on the fourth place. It may now prepare itself for promotion games. Two matches, two finals really. Winning twice is enough to go one level up. The first opponent is Quick ‘1988, and the match will be played away (in Nijmegen). Exciting times for GVC! Perhaps next season it will play in the 3rd class – the competition where, according to player Jort Altenburg, GVC1 belongs (see the newspaper excerpt below, from De Gelderlander, Friday May 24th, in Dutch):
